Hello, and welcome! I’m Heather Christensen, an older mom raising two young kids with my partner, Liesl.
If you’re a progressive parent who wants to create a better world for all of our children, I hope that this will be a space for you to reflect and recharge before returning to your kids, and to your work in the world.
Bifocal Mamas is organized loosely into three categories: raising great kids, feeding your soul, and changing the world. You can access posts about any one of these categories through the menu at that top of this page.
In addition to being a mom to my kids, I am a Unitarian Universalist minister. Since there are many varieties of UU ministers, you may find it helpful to know specifically that I am an atheist and a humanist. I write a weekly column about blogging for UU World magazine, called The Interdependent Web, and offer a variety of ministerial services to religiously unaffiliated individuals, couples, and families.
I hope you’ll introduce yourself in the comments, and visit on Facebook. The most important thing that gets us through as parents and as activists is the company of others.
